Admissions
The Admissions Office receives and manages all enquiries about admissions to the college. A propectus is sent out with details of forthcoming College Open Days.
Open Day sessions are available in morning or afternoon slots and usually span two and a half hours beginning with a tour of the college and a student hostel. The tour will be conducted by senior members of the college and Care departments.
Upon receipt of a formal application from parents, supported by the student's Connexions Personal Adviser, the application is reviewed and, if appropriate a placement visit is arranged.
An outreach visit may also be arranged.
The placement visit usually takes place over 2 days and includes overnight stays for young people referred for residential placements. Following the visit, the NCYPE produces a written multi-disciplinary funding application showing the prospective student's needs with recommendations concerning the level of staff, and non-staff input, required to support the student's placement.
Wherever possible, the parents and student are advised of the panel's decision within 2 weeks following the placement visit. The decision is communicated in writing to the Referring Agency and the parents.
If placement is agreed, every effort is made to accommodate the student as promptly as possible.
