Interdisciplinary Assessments
These assessments are carried out in a self-contained unit within the medical centre at The National Centre for Young People with Epilepsy. Children and adolescents are admitted to the unit for an extended multi-disciplinary evaluation, which takes account of medical, educational, psychological and social issues. The aims of the assessment and the length of stay are planned on an individual basis, and usually last from between 6-12 weeks.
The objectives for such an assessment are to provide:
- Detailed diagnostic information
- In-depth evaluation of the impact of epilepsy or neurological problems
- Recommendations to address educational, medical and care support needs
