Epilepsy Code of Practice

Around 75,000 young people in the UK have epilepsy. Of those 7,500 will suffer serious regression in their learning and have psychiatric syndromes including autistic spectrum disorder, obsessional or challenging behaviour as a result of their epilepsy.

Professor Brian Neville believes that childhood epilepsy has been neglected, mainly through a lack of understanding of the impact both epilepsy and associated conditions have on development, education and quality of life.

Professor Neville wants to see the introduction of a Code of Practice in schools which will ensure that every child with epilepsy receives appropriate care and support. Read his proposed Code of Practice by opening the document below.
